Hyperthyroidism
There is a Way to Support a Natural Balance
Hyperthyroidism is when your thyroid gland, located at the front of your neck,
produces too much thyroid hormone, causing your metabolism to speed up
out of control. Hyperthyroidism has three forms that share several symptoms.
The most common form is Graves disease, also known as Diffuse Toxic Goitre.
Hyperthyroidism is more common in women than men and usually occurs
between the ages of 20 - 40. It often starts after times of extreme stress or
during pregnancy.
Some Signs and Symptoms of Hyperthyroidism:
Shortness of breath
Shakiness and tremor
Rapid heart rate and palpitations
Insomnia
Goiter (swelling of the thyroid gland)
Increased appetite accompanied by weight loss
Anxiety
Swollen, reddened, and bulging eyes (in Graves disease)
Moist skin and increased perspiration
Possibly Changes in menstrual periods
What are the Causes for Hyperthyroidism?
Graves’ disease is caused by antibodies in the blood that stimulate
the thyroid to grow and secrete too much thyroid hormone. This type
of hyperthyroidism tends to run in families, and it occurs more often in
young women. Little is known about why specific individuals get this
disease.
Another type of hyperthyroidism is characterized by one or more
nodules or lumps in the thyroid that may gradually grow and increase
their activity so that the total output of thyroid hormone into the blood
is greater than normal. This condition is known as toxic nodular or
multinodular goiter.
Also, people may temporarily have symptoms of hyperthyroidism
if they have a condition called thyroiditis, also called Hashimoto's disease. This condition is
caused by a problem with the immune system or a viral infection that causes the gland to leak
thyroid hormone. Hyperthyroidism can also be caused by taking too much thyroid hormone.
What is the Thyroid Gland Function?
The thyroid is a 2-inch-long, butterfly-shaped gland weighing less than an ounce. Located in the
front of the neck below the larynx, or voice box, it is composed of two lobes, one on each side
of the windpipe. The thyroid is one of the glands that make up the endocrine system.
The endocrine glands produce, store, and release hormones into the bloodstream that travel
through the body and direct the activity of the body's cells. Thyroid hormones regulate
metabolism-the way the body uses energy-and affect nearly every organ in the body.

Clinical Studies of Hyperroid Formula
(Jiakang
Ning -JKN)
Hyperroid is specially formulated by Chinese master herbalist with natural
Chinese herbs to help treat and relieve the symptoms of hyperthyroid
conditions. It helps by reducing the amount of hormones that is produced by
the thyroid gland and controlling thyroid hormone production by decreasing
levels of TSH (the hormone that stimulates the thyroid gland) in the body,
which in turn will help restrain the thyroid from excess hormone production.
Additional benefits include improved overall immune system response and
enhanced thyroid function. Hyperroid possess anti-inflammatory and
expectorant properties making it valuable for any swelling that is associated
with heat-related conditions such as swollen lymph glands, goiter, excess
heard lymph phlegm, hypertension and hard lymph tumor formation.
Hyperroid has been thoroughly researched and used effectively.
It has been proven to help maintain thyroid function under control, and support
the endocrine system.
Clinical Study on Hyperthyroidism of Yang Hyperactivity Type due to
Yin Deficiency Treated by Jiakang Ning Capsule
Lin Lan, Li Mingdi, Liu Ximing, et al Guang'anmen Hospital,
China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing (100053)
Objective: To investigate the effect of Jiakang Ning (JKN) capsule on hyperthyroidism.
Methods: Eighty five cases of hyperthyroidism were divided into JKN group (24 cases), JKN
with low dose Tapazol group (35 cases) and Tapazol control group (26 cases) at random.
The effects were evaluated by total effective rate, using principal symptoms, body weight, EKG,
thyroid hormone and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) after 6 months. Results: The total effective
rates of three groups were 83.8%, 97.1%, 88.5% respectively, and there were insignificant
difference among them statistically (P0 05). The first two groups had better effect in principal
symptoms than Tapazol control group (P0 05). There were similar results in adjusting thyroid
dysfunction and abnormal EKG, decreasing ANP and increasing body weight among those three
groups (P0 05). Conclusion: The effect on hyperthyroidism treatment by JKN capsule was
satisfactory.
